Understanding Regional Trade Agreements
The United States currently has 14 free trade agreements with 20 countries. Other nations have free trade agreements, but also utilize agreements that lead to deeper levels of economic integration. This webinar will describe the key features of a free trade agreement, a customs union, a common market and an economic union and give examples of each currently existing in the global market. Free trade agreements may create a competitive advantage for your firm so they are important consideration in market entry decisions.
Why this matters to your business
Many U.S. exporters do the majority of their business in the areas where the U.S. has a free trade agreement
- when agreements are signed, the U.S. government develops resources to help firms figure out products that would be in demand in that market
- most new to export firms start with Canada or Mexico because of the free trade area
- products can be more competitively priced if there are no tariffs
Business challenges you may face without this knowledge
- to take advantage of the free trade area, firms need to know what Rules of Origin are and why they matter
- market selection is critical for export success
Who should watch this webinar
- Business owners and sales managers who want to learn more about where the U.S. has free trade agreements
- Any business leader considering foreign market entry
